My thought process for “abstract Sorcery” centered around highlighting my favorite variation of Mickey Mouse, Sorcerer Mickey! I was debating painting his whole body, including robe, but there’s something just so iconic about the head I wanted to focus my attention there.
Sorcerer Mickey is one of my favorite Disney characters ever! It takes Disney, but adds an extra dash of magic to it! Sorcerer Mickey is also the mascot to Disney Imagineering. Taking inspiration from some of my recent works, I wanted to ensure that I included that stark contrast between my painting styles. I truly believe the styles complement each other so well. Up close, in person, you could see the dimension that each part of this painting has, from the thickness of the layers in the Sorcerer’s face, to the stars popping off the hat.
