abstract Pooh

24x30inches - Contemporary Series

“abstract Pooh” is definitely one of my favorite pieces I’ve painted so far for my Contemporary Series.   When I started this series, I immediately wanted to paint three specific characters in different fashions to test the flows of the paints and the flows of my mind. This is the first piece from this collection to combine contrasting styles in order to create a truly unique work of art (the abstract Pooh Bear along with more realistic hunny pot).  Using a style that has truly become my own, I’m able to layer paints over and over in order to create a beautiful piece. The artwork might not look like much after the first few layers of paint, but after a few dozen layers, the piece really takes shape.

Below we have some process photos from my painting, “abstract Pooh”. I love the juxtaposition of techniques on this piece! I have so many thoughts for so many more like this! Maybe I’ll do one with Tigger and Winnie. Thoughts for another day:)

“abstract Pooh” is the second piece in my Contemporary Series and it is a 24x30inch acrylic painting on canvas.
