I officially present the first of over twenty-five pieces in my Contemporary Series! It is apropos that Mickey is number one in the collection. My inspiration behind this series stems from my love for abstract art, as well as my love for Disney, and my desire to combine the two! For as long as I could remember, I’ve always been inspired by the World of Disney. I’ve wanted to create some true Disney Fine Art for a bit of time, but I wanted to do it in a unique, yet classic fashion. Using a style that has truly become my own, I’m able to layer paints over and over, in the process forming shapes and depths to create a beautiful piece over time. The artwork might not look like much after the first few layers of paint, but after 25 layers, the piece really starts to take shape. It just shows good things take patience and time!
Look below to see a few process pictures from my painting, “abstract Mickey.” The first three paintings I completed in the series do not have as much content as the next 15 will after that. I’m really excited for this series… like you have no idea! I remember the sense of pride I took in completing this piece. I felt like this was it and I need to keep going with this series asap! You can see that emotion in the picture below.
